To learn more about Alberta Mental Health and Addiction and what we have to offer, follow this link: .Role ResponsibilitiesPlease note this position is a six-month, temporary position that will cover a maternity leave.This position operates in a fast-paced environment and is responsible for several functions that shape and inform the direction and priorities of the provincial addiction and mental health system, including related policy and strategy development and implementation, evaluation, and reporting. Specifically, the Policy Analyst plans and completes a range of environmental scans, analysis, coordination, correspondence and research to produce recommendations that strategically shape the Alberta addiction and mental health system and position the branch to best guide the evolution of the system.This position will be operating in a fast-paced and dynamic environment that is responsive to strategic direction. The ideal candidate requires strong agility and adaptability, and the ability to provide deliverables and solutions within a quick timeframe.The primary responsibilities of this role include:

  • Planning and conducting research and scanning to inform the strategic direction and priorities of the addiction and mental health system.
  • Leading the coordinated development of plans and reports that reflect achievements across broad provincial priorities for the addiction and mental health system and department business goals.
  • Supporting the branch’s coordinated issues management, including identification, response development, and tracking, to support and inform the system’s advancement on its priorities.
  • Managing multiple grants and contracts to support innovation across the addiction and mental health system in Alberta (e.g., funding research, piloting new models of care or service delivery improvements, building integration frameworks).
  • Fostering sustainable, positive working relationships with diverse stakeholders to support the achievement of system priorities.
  • Support branch leaders in achieving the mandate and goals of the branch and unit.

QualificationsMinimum Requirements:University degree in a health or human services field, plus 2 years progressively responsible related experience;Equivalencies maybe considered – directly related education or experience on the basis of:

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

Assets:

  • Research planning and project management experience.
  • Frontline experience in mental health, addiction, or other social services.
  • Addiction and mental health related experience.
