Join a team that’s naturally committed to the environment.Your OpportunityStantec is seeking a highly motivated, personable Vegetation Ecologist for a wide variety of projects within various development sectors such as renewable energy, oil and gas, mining, and transportation within the vegetation ecology and wetland disciplines. You will apply your expertise to analyze available data, collect field data, develop assessments, and write reports. You will work independently and/ or supervise field teams and you will be a key member of the team that moves projects toward closure in the most cost-effective manner.This is a casual hourly position; hours of work will be based on project demands.Your Key ResponsibilitiesLead vegetation inventories with a focus on communities and species of concern that include rare speciesWork on a variety of natural resource planning projects, including natural area inventories and biophysical assessmentsParticipate in Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) Policies, Procedures, Standards and Guidelines in the execution of all workYour Capabilities and CredentialsProficient in and consistently demonstrate and promote policies and procedures for HSSE, including client-specific training (if applicable)Demonstrated botanical identification skills in British ColumbiaWorking knowledge of and experience applying British Columbia’s biogeoclimatic ecosystem classification systemFamiliarity with relevant provincial and federal regulations and guidelinesExperience with ecosystem mapping (e.g., TEM) is an assetAble to lift 50lbs and endure long days of physically and mentally challenging fieldwork while maintaining a positive, solutions-focused attitudeGood driving record and valid Class 5 driver’s license requiredEducation and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Science – Biology, Ecology, Forestry, or related fieldMinimum 3 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education (e.g., advanced degree) and experience including fieldworkTypical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time, as well as work in the field.   • Locations Outside of Lower Mainland – BC – Min Salary $ 62,000.00 – Max Salary $ 89,900.00
  • Locations in Lower Mainland – BC – Min Salary $ 65,700.00 – Max Salary $ 95,300.00

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
