The project includes five stations along an extension of roughly eight kilometres. The MCS team is partnering with Metrolinx to deliver the Yonge North Subway Extension.Reporting to the Delivery Director for Surface Facilities, the Project Manager will manage the design and construction of related projects within CN and GO rail corridors.Our values shape the way we consult, and define the people we want to join us on our journey:Safety first – Going home safe and well:You will promote Mace’s value of Safety First, exhibiting visible safety behaviours, sharing lessons learned and using safety moments and Mace’s HSW framework to support the safety and wellbeing of all Mace staff.You will possess technical expertise in local Health and Safety rules and regulations relevant to project portfolio.You will promote a diverse and inclusive working environment, and understand the importance of the wellbeing of the people in your team.Client focus – Deliver on our promise:You will ensure robust quality systems are in place, and suitably managed in line with service excellence.You will manage delivery from project inception/brief, through design development and planning, contractor procurement and construction phase in accordance with the overall delivery program and agreed project milestones.You will manage tasks and associated deliverables in support of the Associate Director and other senior leaders, alongside the wider project and client teams, to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of the project.Foster positive culture and works collaboratively with the client’s business units, operational divisions and various internal and external stakeholders and communicates effectively with the client PDT, Technical Advisors, and third partiesSupport the scope definition, development, and implementation phases of the projectManage consultant’s tasks, work plans and performances with respect to the Reference Concept Design and technical documentation preparation such as PSOSAssist the Senior Project Manager in directing and leading the TA (Technical Advisor) developing Project Agreement Documents for the Progressive Design Build (PDB) Contract(s), through all stages and phases of the project and in engagement and interface with third party stakeholders such as municipalities and transit agenciesManage flagging procedures and coordinate construction activities to CN and GO rail corridors; perform site visits as required to coordinate work onsitePrepare construction plans, agreements, and memorandum of understanding as requiredManage project progress, analyses current and future work activities to identify deficiencies and opportunities for efficiencies; recommends and implements solutionsMonitor project safety to mitigate risk, ensure compliance with policies and procedures, and initiate improvements, resolutions and preventative measuresOversee consultant and contractor scope and quality of work, identify existing and potential issues, and initiate corrective action to avoid serious project delays or budget impacts; determine what requires escalation and initiates appropriate actionManage project scope and change orders including negotiating, processing and analyzing cost and schedule impactsIdentify issues, risks and problems; collaborate with Senior Project Manager Managers and Directors to ensure corrective action is implementedIntegrity – Always do the right thing:You will manage project budgets and highlight any risks, challenges and mitigations.You will support the long term development of your function or Business Unit (BU), creating a sustainable business future.You will commit to making a positive impact for our people, our clients, and our planet, and take ownership for holding others to account who do not uphold the Mace values.Create opportunity – For our people to excel:You will manage design and wider consultant teams in a collaborative manner to ensure effective completion of responsibilities.You will lead and manage the project team and relevant stakeholders to achieve strategic project key performance indicators (KPIs).You will actively network, innovate, and seek understanding of best practice, utilising the full depth of knowledge of Mace Group, the Centres of Excellence, Mace Way Control Centre and Knowledge Hub.You’ll need to have:Minimum of 8 years of experience in Project ManagementDemonstrated Experience in project construction management roles within heavy rail, heavy civil, and/or subways projects. With knowledge of construction, engineering, and financesSignificant experience with heavy rail design and construction within CN and GO rail corridors; extensive working knowledge of CROR and flagging proceduresBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related disciplineHolding a recognized Project Management Professional (PMP) certificationExperience working in a Collaborative environment to create a high-performing work culture is strongly desiredExperience in Progressive Contract Delivery Model (Progressive Design-Build and Alliance), DBB, and P3 is an assetKnowledge of construction management practices and principles including familiarity with claims management is an assetPrior experience with municipalities and transit agencies is an assetPrior experience with any aspect of design, construction and commissioning of multi-disciplinary transit projects is an assetAdvanced skills in Microsoft OfficeProficient in Project Management softwareThorough understanding of prevailing Project Management methodsExpert knowledge of tools and metrics needed to evaluate project performanceStrong ability to identify and minimize risks in advanceCapability to detect, capitalize, and be sensitive to others’ strengthsStrong supervision, delegation, and capacity development abilitiesDetailed experience in effectively leading mid-sized multi-disciplinary project teamsCompetent to perceive and ameliorate conflict and tensionAbility to arrange priorities and escalate competing risks to meet deadlines with minimum input from leadershipKeen eye for detail and adept problem-solving abilitiesMust have demonstrated experience relaying and receiving information (written and verbal)Expert ability to work collaboratively and independently in a structured, disciplined, technology-driven environmentYou’ll also have:Membership of RICS, CIOB, APM, ICE or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.Property or infrastructure project management expertise.Commercial and financial acumen.Experience of leading parts of projects within large, diverse teams.Experience of developing and forming relationships with senior stakeholders.Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working onMace is an inclusive employer and welcomes interest from a diverse range of candidates.
