Job description: ***Thank you in advance, but please do not apply to this position if you do not have either your PR or a valid work permit***Job SummaryThe Design and Fit Manager oversees the seasonal product design process while integrating expertise in
sourcing, development, and cost engineering to deliver commercially viable collections. This
role is responsible for leading a team of designers and developers to translate brand vision into
innovative, cost-effective, and production-ready products.
The ideal candidate combines strong aesthetic judgment with deep knowledge of fabric sourcing,
trends and supplier collaboration, and cost negotiation — ensuring that creative ideas are aligned
with production realities, target margins, and go-to-market strategies.Key Responsibilities1. Design Management Lead the creative development of seasonal collections from concept to final approved
samples.
Supervise the design team to ensure alignment with brand vision, customer needs, and
seasonal strategies.
Review and approve sketches, tech packs, and fit iterations to ensure aesthetic and
functional execution.
Partner with the marketing and merchandising teams to align designs with assortment
plans and consumer trends.2. Product Development & Fit Oversight Oversee the development of prototypes and fit samples, collaborating with fit teams and
patternmakers.
Ensure efficient sample cycles and minimal rework by guiding fit strategy and cross-
departmental communication.
Work with the technical team to troubleshoot construction issues and drive solutions.3. Fabric & Trim Sourcing Identify and source new materials that meet quality, price, and sustainability standards.
Manage fabric libraries and supplier relationships to ensure availability and innovation in
materials.
Coordinate seasonal fabric selection in partnership with design, development, and supply
chain teams.4. Vendor Collaboration & Costing Collaborate with domestic and overseas vendors on sample development and product
engineering.
Review preliminary and final cost sheets, ensuring product cost aligns with margin goals
without compromising quality or design.
Negotiate prices, minimums, and lead times, ensuring commercial targets are met across
all product categories.5. Calendar & Process Management Own the seasonal product calendar and ensure all design and development timelines are
met.
Standardize and document best practices for design handoff, BOM management, and cost
visibility.
Ensure all product specs, material details, and costing information are accurately captured
in PLM6. Team Leadership Manage and mentor designers, developers, and assistants.
Lead a collaborative and solution-oriented culture across departments.Required Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Textile Science, or related discipline.
7+ years of experience in apparel design with at least 3 years managing a team.
Proven experience in sourcing, product development, and costing with global vendors
Strong knowledge of garment construction, fit, and manufacturing processes.
Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Excel (for costing), PLM systems, and preferably 3D
design tools.
Excellent negotiation, vendor management, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to balance creativity with business objectives in a fast-paced environment.
