Why is this role important?The Senior Analyst plays a key role in advancing and leveraging pan-Canadian data and information for the development and production of Health Workforce reporting products. This involves carrying out environmental scans, research, data analysis, results interpretation and dissemination, report writing, presentations, and preparing relevant documentation related to reporting heath workforce information. The Senior Analyst will also participate in department/branch meetings, projects, and initiatives as required.What you’ll do1. Participates in the planning, design, development, and implementation of a comprehensive range of products for internal and external audiences, including environmental scans and literature reviews, report writing and preparing relevant technical documentation and presentations.2. Conducts analytical activities including writing and updating statistical code required for the development, computation, analysis, and/or verification of key deliverables.3. Supports the release of data and information through private and public reporting tools, including leading the execution of test strategies / test cases, as well as reviewing written products, to ensure the quality and accuracy of reported results is in adherence with CIHI’s corporate information quality framework.4. Supports client engagements aimed at advancing health workforce data by identifying, analyzing, and prioritizing stakeholder information needs for pan-Canadian health workforce reporting.5. Provides professional and timely client support to respond to internal and external client and media queries as required.6. Maintains current knowledge of data, analytical techniques, statistical tools, and data visualization software used to produce standard and ad-hoc outputs.7. Contributes to the dissemination of findings and knowledge translation, including presentations and education both internally and externally.8. Provides mentoring to other members of the analytical and project team on relevant methodological and technical concepts.9. Ensures adherence to, and ability to demonstrate compliance with, CIHI’s privacy and security policies and procedures when using CIHI data and information.10. Maintains current knowledge of CIHI’s data holdings, trends in health services research and health policy, and stakeholder information needs to support current work and contribute to the development of new analytic proposals.11. Participates in other meetings and related corporate project teams as required.What you’ll bring to the table

  • Undergraduate degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Services Research, Health Sciences, Health Information Sciences or a similar field.
  • Three to five years related experience working with relational databases / large datasets, including manipulating, maintaining, and preparing data and presenting analyses and reports for different audiences.
  • Proficiency with data manipulation and statistical software, using Python or R is required.
  • Strong communication, public speaking and writing skills with the ability to write for a variety of audiences in a clear and engaging way, and communicate technical and analytical information effectively.
  • Critical thinker with a strong background in problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with minimal supervision.
  • Proven organizational and time management skills, with an ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of healthcare systems is an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required, bilingualism in both official languages is an asset.

Expected salary: CA$77390 per year
